On July 4, the city of Peachtree City celebrated its 50th Fourth of July parade by honoring local veteran Jim Rogers with a festive parade, and 94-year-old Rogers served as a proud guest of honor. He had served in three wars for a combined 20+ years and had an inspirational message of peace. Joining him in the parade were kids, like Antonio and Jackson, who looked forward to collecting candy along the way. Rogers rode into the parade in a red Corvette, symbolizing his impressive service to the country.
Peachtree City celebrated its 50th Fourth of July parade with a special guest of honor, 94-year-old veteran Jim Rogers. With an impressive 20+ years in service, Jim was honored for his distinguished military career that included serving in World War II, The Korean War, and multiple tours in Vietnam. The parade was filled with children eagerly anticipating all the excitement, including 10-year-olds Antonio and Jackson who were delighted to collect all the candy along the way.
Jim rode in on a red Corvette, the first car of the parade, Jim had this to say about his experience: “There’s not ever a war– not ever– worth the fight.” He went on to explain that peace is something we must seek within ourselves. Jim finds his own peace at home with his wife Luann Rogers.
After ten years of service, Jim wears his bronze star with pride and joy. Luann said watching her husband in the parade was a moment she will never forget. “My heart stopped. He looks so handsome! I’m so proud of him,” she said. To Jim and Luann, Independence Day is a celebration of life, love and freedom. “Hot dogs, family and freedom– thank God for all the men that made this day possible,” Luann said with a proud smile.
