Students Receive Medals for Outstanding Performance on National Spanish Exam

Congratulations to the student’s from McIntosh High, Starrs Mill High, Whitewater High, and Whitewater Middle for their national recognition in the 2023 National Spanish Examinations. Their achievement demonstrates an impressive level of commitment to the study of Spanish, with 17 Gold medals (at or above the 95th percentile), 28 Silver Medals (from the 85-94th percentile) achieved, along with 26 Bronze medals (75th-84th percentile). Christopher Shim even achieved a perfect score for Spanish for Native Speakers II. These deserving students should be proud of their outstanding accomplishments.

McIntosh High, Starr’s Mill High, Whitewater High, and Whitewater Middle celebrate their students’ tremendous achievements, who have been nationally recognized for their impressive performance in the 2023 National Spanish Examinations. Outstanding results include an impressive 17 Gold medals (at or above the 95th percentile), 28 Silver medals (from the 85th-94th percentile), and 26 Bronze medals (75th-84th percentile). Additionally, Christopher Shim from McIntosh has earned a perfect score for Spanish for Native Speakers II, along with a Gold medal.

These exemplary students have shown their dedication and commitment to the Spanish language and should be proud of their accomplishments.

Christopher Shim of McIntosh High School earned the Gold for Spanish for Native Speakers II, and Juan Torres of McIntosh achieved Silver. Eleven students from both Whitewater High and Middle Schools achieved the Bronze level: Emily Athey, Abigail Crump, Sauj Das, Tanner Dorshimer, Jeremy Flug, Evangelie Higman, Ayaan Khan, Hayley Miller, Brian Mitchell, Courtney Newcomer, Chloe Phan, and Emily Swanger.

We proudly announce that Christopher Shim of McIntosh High School was awarded the Gold level for Spanish for Native Speakers II, and Juan Torres of McIntosh achieved Silver. Additionally, eleven students from Whitewater High and Middle Schools earned Bronze level: Finyinfoluwa Abiodun-Findo, Anna Bruijn, Kaydence Diner, Elsie Fanning, Aliyah Hayes, Aubrey Jones, Umu King, Ludovic Lythgoe, David Martin, Arianna Mitchell, Julianna Padilla, Zakary Bates, Caoimhe Caskey, Chloe King, Miles Lewis, Elizabeth Toth, Shade Wilson.

We are proud to recognize the outstanding achievements of Madison Hagin, Whitewater High; Joshua Lawson, Starr’s Mill; Isabella McBride, Starr’s Mill; Sophia Nguyen, Whitewater High; Ansley Nieber, Whitewater High; Mitt Patel, Starr’s Mill; Aaron Poitevent, Whitewater High; Julian Rhinehardt, Whitewater High; London Rivers, Whitewater High; Ashlyn Rusk, Starr’s Mill; Bella Gorman, Starr’s Mill; Kayla Hoang, Whitewater High and Anika Olson, Whitewater High, who have all earned Level 2 Bronze and Silver awards for Spanish for Native Speakers II. Congratulations!

We are proud to announce that Adelae Barkley, James Bender, Zimri Cauble, Maribelle Grandea, Jonathan Hunter, Elizabeth Jackson, and Jacon Sims from Starr’s Mill, and Mary Hunter, Mark Panair, and Natalie Stone from Whitewater High have achieved Level 2 Gold. Further, congratulations go out to Emily Aguilera, Zahra Castillo, Sophia Farinacci, Ella Griswold, Abby McSpadden, Airi Misigu, and Ellie Shelton from Starr’s Mill and McIntosh who have earned Level 3 Bronze and Silver, respectively.

Carolin Perez-Lozada and Maria Yanez from Whitewater High, Mayiah Grant from Starr’s Mill, Carson Candela and Sofia Arvizu from McIntosh, Katie Rausch, Ginger Swayne, and Jonah Hendrickson from Starr’s Mill achieved Level 4 Bronze, Silver, and Gold respectively.

These students’ hard work and dedication to learning a second language are extraordinary and should motivate others to achieve great results. Congratulations to all the students who put in the effort to excel on the National Spanish Examinations, mainly student Christopher Shim for earning a perfect score from McIntosh High School! The impressive number of Gold (17), Silver (28), and Bronze (26) medals that were awarded this year further demonstrate how self-discipline, long hours, and an open mind makes success completely attainable. This is evidenced by students from all four schools—McIntosh High, Starr’s Mill High, Whitewater High, and Whitewater Middle— who have risen above and shined with their results this year.
