Peachtree City never ceases to amaze! Some local middle and high school students recently gathered and participated in the US Nationals 2023 Invention Convention at the Henry Ford Museum in Michigan. The event aims to showcase the works of fantastic student inventors from various states across the U.S. Our students from J.C. Booth Middle and McIntosh High not only took part in the competition but also shone in their unique ways by presenting their inventive works and emerging winners. Read on to discover more inspiring details!

It’s a pleasure to report that J.C Booth Middleโ€™s Lara Otico made us proud by winning 2nd place in her grade level and 1st place overall for In-Person Presentation, thanks to her project, The Plapper. Lara’s invention is remarkable because it utilizes invasive plants like kudzu to make beautiful paper. Lara’s project highlights the importance of sustainability and finding innovative ways to use natural resources that might otherwise be considered waste. We’re thrilled that her hard work and dedication to the project have paid off!

Erica Bourque and Driola Hoti of McIntosh High also represented Peachtree City remarkably by winning 3rd place in their grade-level project, Plant Dock. The survival of crops is an essential aspect of our daily lives, and these outstanding students recognized this fact by inventing a buoyant container that helps protect crops from flood damage. It’s so great to see the creativity and innovation that can come even from high school students. Congratulations to Erica and Driola on their accomplishment!

The Raytheon Technologies Invention Convention U.S. Nationals is genuinely a big deal. Thousands of students compete at state and local invention competitions in different parts of the United States to get here. The event is usually hosted annually at the Henry Ford Museum, where only the best and most exceptional young inventors nationwide gather to showcase their incredible projects. That the Peachtree City schools were represented so well in this event speaks volumes about the education students receive in this area.

It’s exciting to learn that these students could put together unique projects and present them in a way that was captivating enough to get noticed. All of the participants from Peachtree City represented their schools exceptionally well, and we can’t wait to see how they will continue to make a name for themselves and keep flying the flag high in the world of invention.

In conclusion, the astounding success that the children from Peachtree City achieved in the US Nationals 2023 Invention Convention held at the Henry Ford Museum is quite exciting to learn about. The effort and commitment put into these projects was, without a doubt, worthwhile. J.C. Booth Middle School students and McIntosh High School have earned our respect and admiration. We have high hopes that their achievements will motivate other students in the neighborhood to follow their passions, innovate, and make a meaningful contribution to society. There is hardly a shred of doubt that the horizon for these young innovators is tremendously bright.
